Hey, I need a little help from my blog buddies and readers! We are trying to find good, extremely cheap-if not free (borrowed), centerpieces for the ward party. We had originally thought we would have families sign up and bring a nativity for each table (we're looking at around 20 tables), but as we thought about some rowdy kids in our ward, we didn't want someone's nativity to get broken. Pontsettias are out because one person on the committee has a huge problem with it (and they used them last year). Our activity is Christ-centered....no Santa appearance at all this year.
So I need ideas! Please help a gal out if you have any thoughts! Much love!

We've had people sign up to decorate a tabel, using their own ideas. They set them up and take them down. You could specify what your theme is. Usually, the kids don't get close enough to the tables. They like to run on the stage and down the halls.
A friend of mine just used glass containers full of red/white candy, or marshmallows, and then she also made these giant candycane 'pillars' that they used on the stage. I'm sure she's still got em..She got the idea from the Dan's grocery store in Layton up on Fairfield. Call me if ya wanna :)
