Last Chicago Post

So, our walk continued to Navy Pier. It would be a cool place to be...in the summer! It was pretty dead except for the few tourists, like us, that just walked around the pier to say we had done it. This picture is looking back at the city. Did I mention I love all their different buildings? Here is Mikey on Navy Pier. There were tour boats (none open for business) and lots of food booths....
But, there is the ferris wheel! It looks so fun against the backdrop of the skyscrapers. We walked up to it and I notice it was working. I talked Mike into going for a ride! There were only 3 other cars filled. It's huge! But, you get one turn around and then you get off.....the views were spectacular! They told us the wheel used to be 100 feet higher! It was hard to imagine because it is already soooo big!

Looking straight down from the top! When we got off, we decided we were dumb because we took a ton of pictures of the city, but none of us on the ferris wheel! That night, we switched hotels and stayed at the Hyatt because Mike had earned a free night. It was a nice big room with awesome views! But, we also loved our other hotel...Club Quarters...it was very New York-like...smallish with just the necessities....plenty of room-especially because you are never in the room except to sleep. (Still, we have stayed in a smaller room in New York. Makes for good memories! The day we left, we drove around Chicago a little. We drove along the lake and the beaches/boat areas. Then, we drove to Wrigley Field. This sign is normally red, but Northwestern was playing Illinois there that weekend, so it was purple! When the game was over, they painted red again. Kind of neat to see that in person!

If you look on the top of the brown buildings, you will see bleachers! These are apartments that are just across the street from Wrigley. They built bleachers on top of the buildings and you can buy tickets to see the game! Mike said Wrigley wasn't happy about it, but there wasn't anything they could do to stop it!

We loved Chicago! We have been very blessed to be able to travel as a couple quite a bit this fall-unusual for us-and we loved every minute of it! Someday, we'll take the kids to see Chicago, too!
