We celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary on March 12th. Mike was supposed to be on a golf trip with his buddies, but he decided that he wanted to take me on a vacation and we ran away to San Diego! Love that man!
It was a short, but very sweet trip. Our vacations have always been go, go, go...see, do...etc. But, this weekend we just wanted to hang out and walk on the beach! It was so fantastic!
When we woke up, it was to the news of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Then, there was a tsunami warming for the entire west coast of the United States. Well, we had a short layover in Oakland and so by the time we got to San Diego, the warning had passed and locals said they didn't see anything out of the ordinary. We picked up our rental car and heading toward Coronado! We stopped for lunch at Hotel del Coronado and walked around the hotel and grounds. Beautiful place! Then, we took off our shoes and walked on the beach forever! We played in the surf and Mike even gave me a big hug which was so sweet until I realized the waves were rolling in and we got soaked up to the knees!

Was is coincidence that we went to San Diego when that almost became our home a couple of months ago? Maybe, maybe not. It is a beautiful place! Mike kept asking me, 'Why didn't we move here?' :) It's ok, we know we made the right choice.
So, thanks to our parents for helping us with babysitting pretty last minute...we were off! We had to leave for the airport at 5:30am Friday morning. Thank goodness our children are responsible and willing to get themselves off to school. It's kind of fun when your kids get older and a little more independent. That doesn't mean that I want them to grow up anymore, though.

It was fun!
This guy made the most amazing sand castle ever! He also charges for pictures....good thing I took this while we were far away and he wasn't looking....
The sand on the beach
The sand on our feet!

We later headed to our hotel...Loews Coronado. We stayed there 13 years ago when I won a trip (for being a good employee) with AT&T. It's a great hotel and we really enjoyed it. We went out for dinner to Peohee's....it's a place on Coronado Bay and had great views.....the food wasn't the best, but good enough. We drove around San Diego, did a little shopping, and enjoyed our time together!
More to come...

Fun Fun Trip!! Happy late anniversary to one of my favorite couples :)
I was very impressed that Mike made the 'right choice' to be with his wife instead of the guys that weekend - I asked Kerry what he would have done.... And sort of laughed at the same time I was asking him because I know that question would require some thought! Sad as that is, his golf clubs are the other woman in our relationship - it's those titillating Titleists and pernicious Pings that I have to watch out for!
Those clubs are skanks! Makell! I miss seeing you! We need to get together!
Man! You're making me super jealous. Are you sure you don't want to at least buy a second home in San Diego?? ;)
