Still catching up!

Our superstar #9

Amanda is now playing on a comp soccer team with Wasatch Soccer Club. She was ready to gain some new skills. In August, they played in the Striker's Cup tourney. She is obviously one of the newbies and her coach is trying her in a lot of different positions to see where to play her. At the end of the tourney, he called her his most versatile player because he could put her anywhere and she could play the postion. Yea Amanda!
Amanda's team. She has 3 coaches, Lisa and Dave are assistants. Matt Tyler is her coach.
Her team placed second in their division. They lost in the championship game to the same team they beat the first game of the tourney. She knows a few of these girls from school, but it's been fun getting to know all the girls on the team. This is a nice group of girls and parents. Everyone cheers each other on and we haven't had any negativity. She's having a great time!
The coaches planned a party for after the tourney/summer that evening. We went to surf n swim, had pizza and rode the waves.
It was fun to embarass Amanda when I took this picture. She wouldn't look at me. I said to the girls say pizza. Two girls responded, so I put on my best annoying Mom voice and said, "I can't hear you!" That got a response and I enjoyed every moment! ;)
Our kids rode the waves. Mike & I were life guards. It was a nice end to the busy week and a good kick-off to the season. After this party, Keslee (who is assistant coach, Dave's daughter), had another party for the team at her Grandma's house. Back to back soccer parties! We could get used to this! This was truly a party house! The backyard alone was amazing! Huge, tree-lined, terraced, all sorts of activity areas. They even watched a movie outside. Too much fun!
Amanda isn't without injury, however. According to our resident expert, aunt Cath, she has a really tight I.T. band. We need to stretch it out and do a little weight lifing with her lower leg to strengthen her knee. Looks like she inherited the bad Gibson knees....

We also had Mtn. Vistas Day during August. I was helping with the parade. I talked Amanda and Hanalee into carrying the sign. We had a little lunch in the commons area after. Since our neighborhood is two wards, it's nice to get to know others (and the non-members) through this neighborhood party. The kids had a blast! Mike had to bbq for the dinner again and now it's in the books!
