Mtn Vistas Day 2009

With our unusually rainy June weather....Mtn Vistas Day got rained out. It was rescheduled

for Saturday the 27th. It started with the kids parade (the original fun run was held 2 weeks ago. Amanda and Mike ran in that!) I was thinking the kids could do the parade by themselves this year and I could sit on the sidelines and cheer. But, someone squirted Brandon with silly string and it was all over! I could hear him crying a block away! So, I carried his scooter and walked with him back home.

Unfortunately, Mike & I had to miss the rest of the day. Mike's boss, Barry, got married at the Homestead, so we had to leave Kville around 3:30. We didn't feel like we could tell the kids to stay in the house while we were gone, so we called on our loyal friends to help! Amanda handled Brandon during the inflatables and games. Sydney went with her friend, Hannah. For dinner, Jeni Wilson helped out...making sure the kids got food. Then came the movie and the kids were reunited on the lawn of the commons. We got home about 9:30 and joined the kids for the end of the movie. It was about 11:15p by the time we got them home and in bed!

Barry's wedding was really nice. It's beautiful in Midway. It had been a long time since I had been up there and there is a lot of new houses, etc. It was fun to hang with Mike's other bosses and also, Nick, the sales manager with his wife, Louise. And it was nice to have a long drive with my hubby!

As a side note, Mike's uncle John, passed away last week. We attended his funeral on Monday. The funeral didn't feel sad. A lot of good and fun memories about John.

I need to update about girls camp, but I probably won't get to it tonight. Amanda is up playing with Brynna Jones and just called about a sleepover! Our family policy is no sleepovers...but when it's the boss's daughter that is begging to have your daughter sleepover...what do you do? We gave in.......

Ballet recitals 2009

Sydney is the tallest dancer in the middle-striking her pose....
Sydney's recital was the second half of the week. Her teacher was Mariah. They were Zion Canyon for their dance. Here are a few pics of her rehearsal. (During Amanda's, I could only video because they didn't 'block' like Sydney's did. Clytie said they were already perfect. So, that is why, no 'still' pics of Amanda. If I learn how to download my camcorder, I will post their dances).

Syd in the middle again...

For the second time in one week, G&G Arv and Grandma Gib came up for Sydney's performance. We are grateful our grandparents know that it was a big deal for them to make it to both recitals. Grandma Gib had to run right after the dance to get back to Grandpa (who was under another babysitter's care. The babysitters were his buddies from church).

We tried to go to Farr's ice cream parlor in Ogden (with G&G Arv) after the performance, but because it was so crowded, we ended up at Iggy's. We let Sydney get whatever she wanted and so she got cheese fries and a hot fudge sundae. She found out fast why we don't usually eat those things together! We had another great night! Sydney did a fantastic job and did her signature pose/tilted head at the end. Mike & I just laughed and laughed. She is a cutie!

We love you Sydney!

Ballet recitals 2009

Amanda, Maddie Lloyd and Hanalee Hollingsworth

It's ballet week again! This year, the girls were in different 'casts'-which means 2 dress rehearsals and 2 performances on different days. Amanda was first. This year she had Clytie Adams herself for her teacher (Clytie owns the ballet school). Amanda LOVED her! The theme for the recital was Utah! Amanda's group were cactus flowers. The dance was BEAUTIFUL! They were so graceful and together. Mike and I were so proud of our girl!
Hanalee & Amanda after a beautiful performance

G&G Arv and G Gib came up for her performance. Grandpa Gib was still recovering from knee replacement surgery (he even needed a babysitter so Grandma could come up). Afterward, we hit Olive Garden with G&G Arv. A really fun night to be with our Amanda! We love you!

Temples dotting the land

The kids and I before entering. Mike was coming from work to meet us and hadn't quite made it for the picture. We were excited to attend another Temple open house this year. The Oquirrh Mountain Temple in South Jordan/Daybreak! It sits high upon a hill and you can see the Jordan River Temple and Draper Temple from the front. Gorgeous setting and another amazingly beautiful temple. We met our friends, Darin & Elise Jensen and kids and took Kat (sis-in-law) with us. Afterward, we hit the Red Robin...what a zoo! Jensens have 5 kiddos and with our 3, we were quite the party of 12! The kids had a fantastic time! We are very blessed to live with so many temples in close proximity.

In Memory....

Good-bye old grandma flower couches....You have served us well. Although you are still in fantastic shape and very comfortable, your fabric is not enduring. Thus, we have sold you to a young couple in need of lovely and sturdy couches. May you have endless memories with them as we now search for your replacements.....farewell!

Is June over?

I can't believe how fast June has FLOWN by! I am so far behind in updating, so be prepared. This day was the first day we got out the water slide after MUCH asking from Sydney. The kids had a great time! It was also the day of the air show and we could see quite a few planes/tricks just sitting in the backyard. Fun-filled summer Saturday.
Puppy Max enjoying the company in his 'hood.
Fighter jets circling....
Kids posing....

One of the planes doing a trick...can you see the loop and the plane at the bottom right hand side? Pretty cool....

Sweet Sydney!

Time out!

When Brandon gets in trouble, we tell him to go sit on his bed. Or if he gets mad at us, he will run to his room.

Well, he gets under his bed and waits for us to come get him out and we make-up then. The other day, he was mad at me (and I say a little tired) and when I went to get him....I found him fast asleep! Love this boy!

The perfect start to Summer!

Friday night, Mike got some tickets (from work) to a suite at the Bees game! It came fully stocked with dinner and treats....and afterward a fireworks show! There were a few other people from Bailey's that came, too. Brandon had a good time with Janell's son and nephew. (Below they are hiding in the closet)Thank goodness we had the suite, because the game went to the 11th inning and the boys were able to run around and play inside! The fireworks show was amazing!

I remembered when we were kids and went to Grandma Hook's house for a bbq on the 4th. Then, we would walk down to the baseball diamond across from Liberty Park to watch the fireworks. One would go off....boom....then you wait 5 minutes and another one would go.....boom. You knew it was over when they got like 5-10 to go off at the same time.

Well, this show was like a finale the whole way through! The kids loved it and I dare say, Mike & I did, too! Great way to start the summer! A little favorite American pasttime and fireworks! Bring on Summer!

Every Blooming Thing

This is the first time my Clematis has bloomed! Yea!
It's a spindley little thing, but it looks pretty!
The other day I was looking at the front gardens and enjoying the blooms so much, I decided to share! The reason I got my camera was because of this pine tree. It had the coolest pine cone cocoons on it. Mike has really done most of the work this spring in the garden.

Great job, honey! I am so enjoying the fruits of your labors!

Our rose bushes have really taken off this spring. About a week after these photos were taken, they were covered in big beautiful roses! We have had roses and peonies in the house all week!

Brandon's preschool graduation

Brandon's last day of preschool was a party! His teacher, Miss Cindy, had a water party for the kids. Here is a picture of Brandon and the other 'troublemakers' at his preschool; Brandon, Matthew, Spencer and Mason! They started a throwing water at each other at this little table.

It got a little intense! They are such cute boys!

After the water, Miss Cindy 'graduated' the kids. A big hug and a scrapbook. Brandon did well at preschool this year. At this age, it all about learning social behavior. Next year, Brando, Spence and Matthew are headed to Miss Evelyn's preschool. I took Sydney there and we really liked her preschool. I hope she's ready for the 3 musketeers!

Bring on Summer!

Sydney's tumbling show

Syd is a good tumbler! She has been taking from Lil' Flippers for about a year. She & Amanda used to be together in a class until Amanda injured her wrist. Now, it's a little hard to get Sydney to go by herself. Mike & I both hope she will continue to go as she does really well.

Every once in awhile, they put on a show. I tried to take some action photos of Syd, but she was too fast! Enjoy!
